What Pairs of Currency Do I Trade and Why?

Thought it might be interesting to share what pairs of currency I trade and the reason why?

Obviously, the most popular currency pair to trade is EUR/USD, but why exactly is this?

Is it the low spread or is it just because you've been told that it's the easiest pair to trade.

And how many do you trade at one time - 1, 3, 10?

I concentrate on just one or two, and believe me, it doesn't matter which pair or pairs you trade, as they all pretty much follow the same technical parameter.

I believe that if you can trade one, you can trade them all, which makes choosing them all the more interesting.

I trade on news so EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD and USD/CAD in order of which news breaks first.

These pairs have consistent news events.

I have tried to trade more than one pair at a time but the stress is too much even when I've picked the direction correctly for both.

Now when I'm onto a winner I keep that chart on screen and ignore the rest but sometimes my discipline falls short and I look at the other charts and GREED rears its ugly head.

EUR/USD is popular yes because of low spread, volatility, liquidity and I find the cost for margin is a little lower than say for example GBP/USD, GBP/JPY, etc.

I think focusing or rather trading one pair as opposed to two or more is smart. On any single pair there are ample opportunities on most days to capture more pips than most people make in a week, so it definitely makes a lot of sense to focus on one or two only.

Perhaps there are people who can successfully trade several currencies / commodities / stocks at the same time, but these are few and far between.

Personally, I pick currencies with lots of volatility, and stick to it.
